Happy Friday friends! I hope you have some fun planned for this weekend. We are heading to our local mountains for a camping trip with our daughter’s kindergarten class. Should be lots of fun. If you’re not already you can follow me on Instagram where I post snippets of our crazy family life (and too many pics of our puppy).
So last week I told you about the 5 must-have beauty products I use in the morning. If you missed that one, you can read about it here. Today, I’m sharing the 5 products that I can’t live without each evening. Exciting stuff, I know!
I do still use my Clarisonic and Fresh Soy Face Cleanser in the evening but I also use these face wipes. Especially, if I have makeup on. I like to use the wipes to remove as much of the makeup as possible first, then I will use my Clarisonic and Fresh Soy Face Cleanser. If I’m being honest, I also use the wipes in the evening to get any makeup and dirt off and then call it a night. Sometimes I’m just too tired to go through the whole routine!
I think I have tried every eye makeup remover out there and this one is the best! Not only does it get all your eye makeup off (even stubborn waterproof mascara) but it does so without making your eyes burn. It’s also not super greasy like others I have tried. It is a little pricey, but one bottle will last you for several months. Sephora offers a travel size for $10.00 if you want to try it out before committing to the larger, more expensive bottle.
*Tip: Sephora will give you samples of their top-selling eye makeup removers to take home and try for yourself. That’s how I discovered Sens’Eyes.
As a woman who has hit her forties, and the effects of my teenage years of sunbathing (baby oil anyone?) have started to appear, I added a product with a retinoid to my evening routine. According to this article:
“Retinoids minimize the appearance of wrinkles, bolster skin’s thickness and elasticity, slow the breakdown of collagen (which helps keep skin firm), and lighten brown spots caused by sun exposure.”
Yes please! Since using these pads and the next product I’ll talk about, the brown spots that were beginning to appear on my cheeks have almost disappeared, but have definitely, dramatically faded. I also notice that my skin has an improved brightness than it did before. I also have not had any redness or drying that you can sometimes experience with retinoids. The pads can be a little pricey, but it’s a lot cheaper and less drastic than a chemical peel!
This stuff actually does what it claims! I started using this cream on the delicate skin around my eyes, specifically where I was starting to see crow’s feet and I swear it has lessened the appearance of those lines. So much so, that I started using it on my forehead where I am starting to get lovely wrinkles as well. I’m not opposed to Botox or fillers, but I’m going to hold off for as long as possible. Plus, I’m not a big fan of jabbing needles into my head or injecting poison into my face . . .just saying! Again, the product can be a little on the pricey side – but we’re worth it right? I’ll put the link for Philosophy’s anti-aging kit below, which is a less expensive way to try the products.
I’m kinda obsessed with moisturizing my lips and if you read my post last week you know I’m also picky about the texture and the way they feel on my lips. Smith’s Strawberry Lip Balm is super hydrating without any type of stickiness. The strawberry scent is delicious and reminds me of my Strawberry Shortcake days. Bonus – I rub any excess on my elbows and cuticles.
There you have it – 5 beauty products that I love and use each evening. What are some of your favorites? Have a great weekend and head back here on Monday where I will give the 4th and FINAL update on our May Challenge.
