Hi friends! If the above quote is even remotely true, then I should be one hell of a sailor! Our “seas” have been chaotic and stressful lately which is why it’s been quiet on the blogity-blog. It’s hard to muster creative inspiration when you’re stressed to the max.
I want my blog to be a positive space, one that is helpful and encouraging for my fellow mamas out there, however; it’s equally important to be honest and my authentic self. If I only share the pretty pictures, the images of the family laughing and having fun, I’m not telling the truth. So, life has been messy, it’s sucked occasionally but in the midst of all of it, I realize that I am incredibly blessed with my family, friends and health and as often does, time heals and it looks like the storm has passed and it’s smooth sailing ahead!
One thing that helps bring me out of a funk and remind me of all the good in our life is writing in my gratitude journal. I started doing this a few years ago and it really helps turn my mood around, so I thought I would share what’s been going on with our life lately and the things I am grateful for.
A few weeks ago we went camping in our local mountains. We love this little campground so much and it’s only an hour drive from home. We were able to go on 2 hikes and my parents and Dylan joined us later in the weekend. It’s so nice to unplug, sit around the campfire and look up at the stars. King B even slept outside one night in his hammock despite it being a chilly 26 degrees! We also love going into Julian, which is a cute, little town known for their apple pie (you can read about a previous visit here.)
I’ve also been keeping busy volunteering at Dani’s school. A couple of weeks ago they held their annual jog-a-thon which was so much fun to help out at. Those little ones take their running seriously! Princess Dani completed 34 laps! Afterwards, Dani and I snuck away for a little girl time and get our nails done.
We are also gearing up to do several home improvement projects around the house. Which makes me SUPER excited. We have lived in our home for 10 years and have talked about these projects since day one, so to see them become a reality is really exciting! It also means I get to do “research” on Pinterest and Instagram for inspiration like this:
Sadly, last Friday was spent in the Pediatric Dentist’s office where Princess Dani had to have an emergency tooth extraction. She is such a brave girl and was a champ through the whole process! Check out the adorable letter she left for the tooth fairy!
So that’s life lately in our household. Have a great week!
