Hey there and happy Monday to you! I hope you had an awesome weekend! So I read this article this weekend that asked the question “Are you a January person?” First of all I didn’t know there was a “January” type of person, but it went on to describe a person who gets excited about the new year, views it as a fresh start and new beginnings. Why yes, I am a “January” type of person and I just didn’t know it!
It all starts with taking the Christmas decorations down. As much as I love the holidays, I LOOOOOOOOVE getting rid of clutter. I love to start the new year off with a clean, organized house and everything back in its rightful place. When King B was home over the winter break, we took advantage of the time and cleaned out closets, moved items to our off-site storage unit and donated items as well.
I also get down right giddy shopping for a new calendar and planner. We use a large traditional calendar for all of our family events in the kitchen and I would be completely lost without the calendar on my iPhone, but I also still use a planner to schedule in my daily “to dos”. I haven’t purchased it yet, but I have my eye on this pretty girl . . .
And while I don’t make New Year’s resolutions anymore (you can read why here), a few months ago I started writing down monthly goals. They’re not quite the same as the 55,238 lists that I make. These goals are things outside of the everyday tasks that need to get done, that I would like to complete. For example, the first month one of my goals was to start reading more, which I did, so the next month I set a goal to read 2 books. My goals for this month include some specific tasks that need to get done (take the animals to the vet) but also things I would like to do more often such as write at least one hand written note.
January is also a time I focus on our finances. I start prepping for getting our taxes done and having spent quite a bit over the holidays, I try to reign in my personal spending. One of my goals for January was ZERO personal spending and I was doing good until I walked into Target that is. That darn dollar section gets me every time!
It’s also a bummer because a sweater I have been dying to buy is on sale for 40% off right now. Fingers crossed it will still be on sale (and in my size) next month!
What about you? Are you a “January” person? What goals or resolutions did you set for the new year? Comment above, I would love to hear them!
