Summer vacation is almost here. I can feel it. There are only 4 more days of school left and only 3 more school lunches to pack. It’s quite possible that I am more excited than the kids. Writing that reminds me of my first Summer vacation as a stay at home Mom. I thought I was going to lose my mind! Now, I am so appreciative of the time I have with our two kids that are still at home. Funny how things have changed in 4 years.
So, in the spirit of Summer, this weekend I asked the fam what they wanted to do and created our official 2015 Summer Bucket list. This list does not include our family houseboat trip happening in August which was on my personal bucket list for years. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of our houseboat trips on the lake in the sweltering heat, playing in the water. I can’t wait to share the experience with my kiddos and our entire family.
I should mention that the list does not include a specific item from our 16-year old, though when I asked him he immediately shouted “go skydiving!” When he knew it was going on the blog however; he changed his mind. So we may have an amended bucket list in the next couple of weeks.
Regardless, I am all in for everything on the list. I thought it was cute that Dani said a Mommy and Dani day. Like we aren’t together enough already! Going to the beach is a given and the hubs added going to the San Diego County Fair. I added the Drive-in movie. We love loading up in the car with dinner and treats dressed in our PJ’s, putting the back seat down and watching a movie on a warm summer night. I also added watch fireworks. We live just a few miles from Sea World which shoots off fireworks every evening during the summer. We can drive 10 minutes away and watch the show from our car. I also added plant a garden. If you read my post a couple of months ago (read here) you know Dani and I planted a small herb garden, and I am happy to report they are still alive and yesterday the hubs brought home two raised garden beds and we are stepping up our gardening game. Last night we got a jumpstart on the list and roasted marshmallows by the fire and made S’mores. Here’s to one more week of school! What’s on your summer bucket list?
