Happy Hump Day friends! We are halfway through the week and half way through the first week of school.
I don’t want to jinx anything, but so far it’s been a smooth transition from summer to school. I am a girl who loves a schedule, so as much as I will miss our lazy mornings (and afternoons) I am very happy to get back into a routine and feel like I accomplished more than making it out of my pajamas by noon!
And with the Princess back in school I have more time to dedicate to the blog. I know it’s been super quiet here this summer, but that’s because we’ve been busy soaking up all of our beautiful summer! And here we are, the last Wednesday of August, and one of my favorite posts each month: What’s Up Wednesday! Let’s go!
What We’re Eating This Week:
Here’s a peek at what we’re eating this week.
I tried a new Asian noodle recipe that I want to share, but it needs a little more tweaking. Two of the meals on our menu are from Blue Apron
I’ve been using their meal delivery service for almost two months now and am planning on sharing my thoughts in a post next week so be sure to come back and check that out.
What I’m Reminiscing About:
We went to Catalina Island last weekend for Dylan’s 18th birthday and had the best time! Lots of pics with details on where we stayed and where we ate also coming to the blog next week.
What I’m Loving:
This is going to sound SUPER cheesy, but I am loving my little life right now.
We are in a phase where our oldest son has moved out and is living on his own and doing great, our other son, whom we are equally proud of just turned 18, is going to graduate from high school early, is considering a career in the military and our daughter is no longer a baby, but rather a smart young lady. We’re all happy, healthy (Princess Dani has some issues, but nothing we can’t deal with) and genuinely enjoy spending time with each other and that is just the best feeling as a parent.
What We’ve Been Up To:
Thoroughly enjoying summer! Here are just a few pics from this summer.
What I’m Dreading:
I can’t think of a darn thing!
What I’m Working On:
Ha! My to-do list is always a mile long, but right now I’m brainstorming how to organize our daughter’s closet as it just isn’t functioning for her and her stuff right now. Suggestions?
What I’m Excited About:
Our upcoming New York trip. The hubby is the only one who has been to New York City and I am SOOO excited to finally go and see all the sights.
What I’m Watching or Reading:
I posted the books that I managed to read this summer (it wasn’t much) here, as well as some upcoming movies that are based on books.
The hubby and I are obsessed with Naked and Afraid, and just finished Naked & Afraid XL. 40 days in South Africa. It was C R A Z Y! We are super excited however for the 2nd season of Narcos which comes out on Friday on Netflix. It’s kind of brutal, but we fell in love with Season 1.
What I’m Listening To:
We love Reggae music and I have been listening to the new album by one of our favorite bands, Hirie on repeat. Like as I type this, she is playing in the background, in the car. I just love her voice and energy. So much so that we went with our oldest son and his friend to watch her perform last weekend. If you follow me on Instagram you saw my Instastory (that’s another thing I am loving right now) of our fun-filled night at the concert (and me hung over after trying to keep up with to 23 year olds – haha!)
What I’m Wearing:
This summer it’s been all about comfort, but as I look through my pics, the one piece I’ve been wearing the most is my kimono. With jeans, date night with the hubs, with cut offs and a tank and in Catalina as a cover-up.
What I’m Doing This Weekend:
It’s Labor Day Weekend (cheers to the 3-day weekend) and we are having friends over for a BBQ. We will probably go and see Pete’s Dragon as well. Anyone else see that yet? This was one of my favorite movies as a kid and I can’t wait to see this adaptation.
What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month:
September is Princess Dani’s birthday month and we have a fun little party planned for her. Can’t believe she will be 8 already!
And the bonus question for this month: What is your favorite transition piece for Fall?
I’m a sweater girl. I love wrapping up on cool evenings in a soft, cozy sweater. Last year I bought this sweater and wore it every opportunity I got!
This Barefoot Dreams one is a close second and I would even wear it in the morning like a robe!
You can check out all the sweaters I purchased last season here.
I can’t wait to hear what you have been up to this month and if this is your first time to my blog, thanks for stopping by!
